A Butley Priory Wedding

Wedding Photography at Butley Priory, Suffolk

Jemma and James wedding at Butley Priory was a beautiful, elegant, affair. I hadn't taken photos at Butley Priory, before this wedding and I was seriously excited!

I first met Jemma and James for their engagement photography in Woodbridge and so I knew their day would be something magical.

The day started at Jemma's mum and dad's home. Her friends were clearly ecstatic that the wedding day had come around. While her mum and dad, were so obviously full of love and pride. They were beaming with it! Upon first seeing her in her dress, Jemma's dad could not wait to take her arm. They had a little practice run of "walking down the aisle" before joining James at Butley church for the real thing!

The ceremony was really lovely. Jemma and James could not have appeared more relaxed. Fits of giggles ensued here and there and watching them together, there was no doubt that they were each marrying their best friend.

After leaving the church in a classic Austin, the newlyweds went for a short ride around the countryside before arriving at the gorgeous Butley Priory. Butley Priory is described on it's website as a fairytale wedding venue. Jemma totally looked the part of a princess in her dress and floral crown, while James looked very dapper in his suit.

The weather held out for everyone to be able to enjoy the splendour of the gardens and grounds, accompanied by some wonderful piano music.

Later on, a fabulous set of speeches that had their wedding guests in stitches, followed by some games on the lawn.

All too soon it was time for their first dance and for me to leave the fairytale and head back home to Norwich. I should, in fact, have left much earlier as Jemma and James had originally booked me up until their wedding breakfast. Yet, I was having so much fun that I totally forgot myself and stayed through into the evening. No regrets here though. Their friends and family kept me well entertained, Dee (Jemma's mum) kept me well fed and the Rockpins provided the tunes to keep the dance floor packed - the time flew by!

A huge thanks to Jemma and James for choosing me to capture their day and for these kind words -

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your hard work and enthusiasm at our wedding. We are so happy with the photos you took and seven months on its still so lovely to look back at the day through the moments you captured for us. You went above and beyond – thank you so much!
