Something a little different
Looking for a wedding venue in Norfolk that’s a little outside the norm?
I've got you!
Here are 9 alternative wedding venues in and around Norwich for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy!
I’ve photographed over 250 weddings.
And I've been to all sorts of different wedding venues from the small and intimate to grand stately homes.
Church weddings and hotel receptions are still very popular (it’s how we did our wedding). But there is so much more out now than there ever was when we were planning our wedding.
There are wedding venues in Norwich and Norfolk today that just a few years ago didn’t exist or, simply, were not well known about.

1. The Halls
St Andrews, Norwich
The Halls is a relatively new kid on the block when it comes to weddings but I have been lucky enough to have two weddings there. I love a wedding in the heart of Norwich and if it’s the heart of the city that you’re looking to get married in, then a wedding at the Halls should definitely be on your list.
St Andrew’s Hall, Blackfriars’ Hall and The Crypt (with Becket’s Chapel) are registered for civil ceremonies. If you’re getting married at the Halls, you can choose to host your reception there as well or, alternatively, why not explore what else the city might have on offer for your wedding reception.
The last wedding I photographed at the Halls included a wedding breakfast at the Belgian Monk and the wedding before, a wedding breakfast and reception at Cinema City!
Scheduled to undergo an extensive renovation in 2024, this venue is sure to offer even more for your wedding day when it’s back in action - be sure to check it out!
2. The Flint Room
Ber Street, Norwich
A real gem, the Flint Room - a deconsecrated church on Ber Street, Norwich - is an independently owned, fully licensed, wedding venue.
For those couples wanting a secular wedding with all the beauty, awe and atmosphere a church wedding can bring, the Flint Room is a perfect choice.
Lesley and Trish, the owners, will make sure you have the absolute best time!
Well worth a look!
3. Cinema City
St Andrews Street, Norwich
A wedding at Cinema City and the Dining Rooms is very definitely not your usual wedding venue.
This venue is situated right across the road from the Halls wedding venue, mentioned above, in the heart of Norwich.
If you have a love of film and want to combine that with marrying the love of your life, this is the perfect Norwich wedding venue.
If you have your heart set on getting married in a church, this City centre venue is surrounded by them. Not planning on a church wedding? Then, all three of the cinema screens are licensed for weddings!
If I was getting married again (and I hasten to add, I'm not*) this would be a major contender. You can Skype your relatives on the big screen, those who couldn't make the big day.
You can watch your favourite film or a personal video on-screen (Indiana Jones or, a little Die Hard on your wedding day - OMG the perfect wedding venue - ha!). And on top of all that your choice of the soundtrack in surround sound as you walk down the aisle (and that's a "Yes" to the Jaws soundtrack)!
Plus, the food at the Dining Rooms is heaven and their courtyard garden is one of a kind - it's like dining outdoors, indoors ? (*decided - I am, at least, renewing my vows here!)
5. Chaucer Barn
Gresham, North Norfolk
Chaucer barn is another absolute gem, hidden away in the Norfolk countryside, just a little inland from Sheringham near the North Norfolk coast.
With soaring wooden beams and exposed brickwork, you can feel the history in the building but the venue blends the old and new beautifully and it’s epic, 20 acre, grounds are bound to impress your guests. It can host up to 18 of those guests in the main barn and a further 20 people can be accommodated in their eco lodges.
With the option to host ceremonies both indoors and outdoors, this venue makes for a stunning backdrop to your wedding photographs come rain or shine!
4. The Boathouse
Ormesby Broad, Norfolk
Very much one of a kind, this stunning and unique wedding venue overlooks the Ormesby Broad.
Fancy arriving at your wedding aboard a boat? Then the Boathouse is the wedding venue for you. I don't know of any or, many other places in Norfolk you can do that! ‘Gentleman Jim’, their Edwardian launch adds a very unique addition to your big day.
And it's one of the most perfect settings to watch the sunset too - a wedding at the Boathouse is very definitely unique, it's an absolute beauty of a venue.
For the little moments.
What does your your love look like?
Whatever it looks like, I want to photograph it!
If you want wedding photos that reflect your day, naturally, just the way it happened, take a look around!
6. Glebe Farm Barn
Wymondham, Norfolk
Another new wedding venue in Norfolk, Glebe Farm Barn is a dry-hire venue, meaning you have absolute control over how this venue can be styled!
Glebe Farm Barn gas absolutely loads of space for you and your guest to roam free. A courtyard area and fields, for food vans, camping, bell tents, bouncy castles, garden games or, simply for running around drunk and naked (*I'm not sure what the rules are about the nakedness so, please check with the venue before booking)!
7. Voewood
Holt, North Norfolk
No list of quirky wedding venues in Norfolk would be complete without this place.
Voewood has to be seen to be believed. It's a dream wedding venue with the most beautiful grounds to boot!
An Arts and Crafts style house in Kelling, near Holt, it is truly unusual, in all the best ways!
A venue that really provides that wow factor and comes alive by night. There's no party quite like a Voewood party.
I've been there many a time, and each time I go, I find something new about the place. I'm sure sometimes it's alive. At the very least, this is a Norfolk wedding venue with a whole lot of soul! Check it out.
8. Bressingham Hall
Diss, South Norfolk
How many places in Norfolk can your ride the Gallopers on your wedding day?
The three-abreast Gallopers are Bressingham's centrepiece and are available to hire on your wedding day. It never fails to entertain and brings out the child in everyone.
Bressingham Hall is famous for its, world-renowned, gardens. These make for a beautiful space for your guests to wander and explore and for you to have some portraits taken for your wedding album.
But for me, at least, it is Bressingham Hall's fair-ground attraction that really gives this Norfolk wedding venue its unusual edge. You can hire this for your evening reception (and you most definitely should)!
Yes, Thursford Garden Pavilion may have a carousel but that's not a Gallopers and if you don't know the difference, it's back to school for you!
9. Godwick Hall
Fakenham, North Norfolk
A wedding at Godwick Hall is something special.
This spectacular, secluded, rustic barn, wedding venue is just perfect for an indoor or, outdoor wedding in Norfolk.
Surrounded by unspoiled views of the Norfolk countryside, it is the most serene of settings.
Family run, Godwick prides itself on its friendly and personal service. Much like the Keeper and the Dell, mentioned above, the wedding planners at Godwick will do their utmost to accommodate your vision for your big day!
It's a magical kind of place and although last on this list, it is very far from the last place you should consider.
You should, very definitely, add this one to your list of wedding venues to see in Norwich and Norfolk.

Most people tend to keep their questions related to wedding photography. Though I maintain, questions about life, the universe, and everything are sometimes worth pondering with new clients and also, what kind of wedding cake you should have (I like fruit cake – just saying).
